How to Calculate Fantasy Football Points (Standard, Half-PPR, PPR)

How to calculate fantasy football points

Want to know exactly how many points a player scored, or settle a start/sit debate? Here is how to calculate fantasy football points for standard, half-PPR, and PPR leagues, with worked examples. Skip the math with the free fantasy football points calculator.

Common fantasy football scoring

Most ESPN and Yahoo style leagues use defaults like these (your league may differ):

  • Passing: 1 point per 25 yards, 4 points per touchdown, −2 per interception.
  • Rushing and receiving: 1 point per 10 yards, 6 points per touchdown.
  • Two-point conversions: 2 points.
  • Fumbles lost: −2 points.
  • Kickers: 3 points for field goals up to 39 yards, 4 for 40–49, 5 for 50+, 1 per extra point, and −1 for a miss.

Standard vs half-PPR vs PPR

Point-per-reception (PPR) leagues add points for every catch: 1 point in PPR, 0.5 in half-PPR, and none in standard. This boosts slot receivers and pass-catching running backs.

Example: how to calculate points for a quarterback

A quarterback throws for 300 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception, and rushes for 25 yards:

  • 300 passing yards ÷ 25 = 12 points
  • 2 passing touchdowns × 4 = 8 points
  • 1 interception × −2 = −2 points
  • 25 rushing yards ÷ 10 = 2.5 points

Total: 20.5 fantasy points.

Example: a receiver in each format

A wide receiver catches 8 passes for 95 yards and 1 touchdown. Yards give 9.5 points and the touchdown gives 6, so that is 15.5 in standard scoring. Half-PPR adds 4 points (8 × 0.5) for 19.5, and full PPR adds 8 points for 23.5.

How many fantasy points is 100 yards and a touchdown?

For a rusher or receiver, 100 yards is 10 points and a touchdown is 6, so 16 points in standard scoring. In PPR, add 1 point for each reception.
